Message from the Executive Director
Jessica Hayes

Spring has Sprung!
I must admit I am one of those individuals who looks forward to the IAODAPCA Spring Conference as fervently as I look forward to Spring itself! This year’s conference was no exception and the networking and mentoring I witnessed over the course of the five-day conference left me rejuvenated and ready to face the challenges that will undoubtedly affect our field in the upcoming months. I stood in awe and admiration as I was able to witness from the podium the mentoring, networking and reconnecting of friends and colleagues during Thursday’s luncheon. I left the conference thinking how amazing it is to be a part of this field, the more-often-than-not unsung heroes in the realm of Human Service. The board of directors, management and staff of IAODAPCA remain committed to the IAODAPCA Spring Conference and look forward to the 2011 event!
The 2010 conference held the largest attendance in the past four years; reaffirming the thinking that, while on-line meetings and conference calls may help lower travel expenses, it lacks the personal touch of being there, face-to-face. My sincere thanks to individuals, agencies and exhibitors for the part they played in making this conference a success. Training and education is often the first to get cut when funding is cut. I know many of those attending did so on their own dime and their own time. I also know many agencies, large and small, were able to send several of their staff and for that I am, as I am sure they are, grateful!
In my closing comments about the 2010 conference I would like to say thank you to the staff of IAODAPCA for their continued hard work and dedication to you, the members. It is due to their willingness to extend their work day and the extra mile they run during the months prior to, the on-site work during the week of and the weeks after in follow-up, that have helped keep your conference fees the same for the past five years. IAODAPCA was once a staff of nine, and through attrition is now a staff of five. But, not just any five… five of the most dedicated and outstanding employees who I am honored to have as part of this team!
Now that the conference is over, IAODAPCA has turned its focus to a new and improved website and database system which will allow for many on-line features to assist with the application and recertification process as well as email notifications and on-line payments. We are in the early stages of these new features and I urge you to continue to visit www.iaodapca.org for updates on this and other IAODAPCA news and information.
Thank you for your continued support of our mission and vision.
