Message from the Executive Director, Jessica Hayes |
Jim Russell named 2010 IAODAPCA Professional of the YearIAODAPCA had the distinct honor of presenting Jim Russell, CADC, MISA II, NCRS, with the 2010 IAODAPCA Professional of the Year award. Each year IAODAPCA encourages its membership to nominate a counselor who stands out from the rest, a counselor who has lead the way for his/her constituents and a counselor who provides endless support to those who need it the most. This year the members chose Jim Russell. Nearly 25 years ago Jim made the decision to leave the financial field and embark on a new career in the addiction field. He began working as a counselor on the night shift and was eventually promoted to case manager in a short term residential treatment facility. Jim quickly moved on to become the Director of a residential service facility. Jim made the decision to retire from the field in 2009 but continues to work in the recovery community and encourages those in need to enter treatment and to become involved. Jim is a person who has a long standing commitment to the Southwest Coalition and currently holds the office of Treasurer. He has a genuine selfless manner that draws others in. When volunteers are needed, Jim is always at the front of the line. Congratulations Jim, you are an obvious asset to the field. Your abilities are not only respected by your peers, but also greatly admired.
