2010 IAODAPCA Volunteer of the Year

This year Gilbert Rapp, CADC, was the proud recipient of the 2010 IAODAPCA Volunteer of the Year Award. Gill was presented with his award at the IAODAPCA Spring Conference on March 25, 2010. Gil’s dedication truly stood out this past year. Gil was given the task of leading all volunteer efforts last year at the 2009 Spring Conference, he took charge and led the show for the entire week. IAODAPCA was down three staff members that year; Gil was there to fill every void. He is a true asset to anyone he works with. Gil has been a dedicated volunteer for over 10 years and even sacrifices his own vacation time to join us each year, though Gil doesn’t see it as a sacrifice at all.

Gil worked for the Illinois Department of Corrections in the Juvenile Division as a youth counselor at IYC St Charles. In 1989, he enrolled in the first IDOC CADC Training Cycle and became one of the first juvenile counselors certified as a substance abuse counselor. He left the Department around 1992 and went to work for Southwestern Airlines-where he has been employed since that time. Although Gil does not work in the field at this time, he makes it his priority to continue his certification and dedicates his time to the field in every way he can.

We thank you Gil for all that you do for IAODAPCA, not only have you inherited an annual job at the IAODAPCA conference, but you have also gained our utmost respect. We are proud to name you the 2010 IAODAPCA Volunteer of the Year!
