Update January 1, 2020 and supersedes all earlier versions
Individuals wanting to sit for any Illinois Certification Board (ICB) exam must first complete the appropriate application. Each approved applicant will receive a letter and testcode information sheet via email. The testcode information sheet needs to be completed and returned to ICB with the appropriate fees before the registration process can be initiated. You may test prior to application approval (International Certification Reciprocity Consortium (ICRC) Exams excluded); however, you must submit certain sections of the application and include a letter requesting to test prior to application approval. Complete details on how to test prior to completing your application is in the link below. Please read the Illinois Model for each credential you are applying, thoroughly, to avoid any miscommunication. Once you are ready to apply you may download application materials. The Illinois Model and Applications are located under the Credentialing and select the credential you would like to pursue.

Update January 1, 2020 and supersedes all earlier versions
All ICB and ICRC exams are administered through Computer Based Testing (CBT). All exams are scheduled by appointment only. ICB utilizes a separate testing company to schedule all exams. Once an applicant is approved for testing, he/she will be able to schedule their exam appointment online. Although there are exam sites throughout the State, ICB cannot guarantee a location in your area, therefore a person taking the exam may have to travel a bit further than expected.
Exam scores are immediately provided to the testing candidate once the exam is completed. The ICB will follow up with the testing candidate via email within 7 to 10 business days in regards to the next step of the credentialing process.
